We are hiring for the following positions:

Full Stack Engineering Instructor

Fargo, North Dakota

Emerging Digital Academy is hiring a Full Stack Engineering Instructor. The full stack engineering instructor is responsible for instruction and support of the students in our flagship full stack engineering program. In addition, this position supports key operational functions of the school, including supporting the Director to ensure that educational and state licensing requirements are met.

An ideal candidate for this role someone who is passionate about education and technology with a strong technical background. It is crucial that a candidate is not only experienced with foundational web technologies in a professional capacity, but also has the ability to convey that information through leadership and empathy. As an instructor, you will be on the team responsible for guiding each cohort of students from the early stages of the program through graduation.

We teach full stack javascript in our program, but our instructors can come from a wide variety of backgrounds. It is important to have a passion for web technologies and a respect for the ongoing process of staying up to date as modern technologies are continually updated.

Responsibilities

  • Executing the curriculum of our full stack program by preparing daily lectures.
  • Participating in online or in-person video and discussion for the prework session
  • Moderating the classroom dialog to provide a balance between input and instruction.
  • Supporting our students as they search for jobs through mock interviews and resume/portfolio feedback.
  • Providing written and verbal feedback on student projects.
  • Reporting of student progress, including weekly 1:1 check-ins.
  • Continuing to improve our curriculum by giving feedback and working with our curriculum partners to incorporate quarterly updates into our program as needed.
  • Managing the flow of the 20-week program, ensuring students are prepared for milestones and program events.
  • Helping out with hosting monthly technical workshops.
  • Working with your team to ensure program events are fully supported (alumni and employer events, recruiting and workshops, career day, orientation, etc)
  • Responding to student inquiries and requests for assistance as needed through email and chat.
  • Occasional travel to Minneapolis to work with our curriculum partners
  • Representing Emerging Digital Academy by being a good role model and participating in community events and the greater technology ecosystem.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Educational and/or mentorship experience.
  • Working experience with modern software engineering, tools, and processes
  • The ability to manage difficult emotional situations, including the ability to respond quickly to requests for service or assistance
  • Proven leadership working on a technical team in a collaborative environment
  • The ability to adapt to and learn new technology with a studious vigor.
  • Experience with at least two of the following:
    • Foundational web technologies (html, css, javascript)
    • Server side technologies (API design, HTTP services, etc)
    • Database Design (SQL or noSQL)
    • Modern source control systems (e.g. git)
    • Modern utility and build systems (e.g. gulp, grunt, webpack)

Additional Nice-to-Haves

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience with giving technical talks or lectures.
  • Experience with modern javascript frontend frameworks (react, vuejs, angular).
  • Experience with javascript backend environments (node.js, express).
  • Experience with non-javascript or quirky web stacks.
  • Experience with higher level cloud technologies (deployment, automation, etc).
  • Experience with professional growth and development (team building, technical lead, coaching/recruiting, etc).

Operational Administrator

Fargo, North Dakota

Emerging Digital Academy is hiring an Operational Administrator. This position is responsible for the daily operations of the school and ensuring that our students, staff, alumni, and community partners are supported and well informed. This includes working with the various teammembers of the organization, including marketing and social media, admissions, education, student life, community engagement, and operations to achieve excellence in all functional areas. Additional primary focus will be supporting the various teammembers to make sure that nothing falls through the cracks.

As a functional administrator, you will help both the educational processes (admission, alumni and employer relationships, campus visits, recruitment lifecycle) as well as internal processes (licensing, operations, marketing/social media, administration). As a core member of our small team, you will play a crucial part in helping us make sure that all moving parts of the organization are well oiled and running smoothly. You will help ensure that our students are well supported and as prepared as possible for success. You will work independently but with the support of the leadership and instructional teams.

Responsibilities

This position touches every moving part of the organization, including but not limited to:

  • Managing the admissions process for prospective students, including fielding inquiries in a timely manner, scheduling campus visits, and assisting with the admissions process.
  • Managing student onboarding, including confirming contract execution, contact information, start dates, and financial assistance.
  • Managing our employer relationships, including confirming interviews, career day logistics, and invitations to graduations and other events.
  • Managing event scheduling, setup, teardown for workshops, guest speakers, alumni events, and career day.
  • Assisting with student life operations, ranging from communication and support, to helping order pizza or fielding media inquiries about student projects
  • Supporting student success by supporting student tracking, feedback, and progress.
  • Helping with the operational processes of the organization, including helping with DEI initiatives (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion).
  • Continuously working to improve our organizational efficiency, process, and effectiveness.
  • Representing Emerging Digital Academy by being a good role model and participating in community events and the greater technology ecosystem.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in an administration or operations role
  • Has the ability to create supportive relationships with students.
  • Driven and focused, with a strong ability to follow through.
  • Proven leadership working as part of a fast moving team.
  • Proficient understanding of web concepts, or at least an interest in learning.
  • Competancy with communication tools and computer systems.
  • Mastery of the English Language, both verbal and written
  • Experience with logistical and event planning.
  • A passion for improving the lives of our students and ensuring that they are supported and informed.
  • Experience with organizational leadership and process design.

Additional Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working in adult education, higher education, or student affairs.
  • Experience with CRM marketing tools.
  • Experience with management of complicated organizational systems.
